In my NJROTC unit we have some very commited cadets. the problem is we have a problem getting things done because no one is on the same page. Everyone is doing something different. WHAT can i do to make the communication better any ideas for me that works?

My unit had the same problem, but I've see from years past, they would write memos at the end of the week, and turn them into the XO who, after reading them, would turn them into the CO. It allowed for the upper chain of command to know what was going on with the departments, and they would then update the entire staff about the week's progresses and achievements and such at staff meetings. Just a suggestion

You could have a unit phone and email tree, so that the POIC of a certain event can make sure everyone knows what they're doing.

With "boxes", I am going to assume Mailboxes for the staff in the unit. With that, you can have them create memos and things to pass around, almost as an update on their departmental duties and such.

Mailboxes are a good way to store papers and things if you're not using them, also. You can use them to pass messages to the different people in your unit; for example, you can send promotion sheets through the Chain of Command a lot easier. The same thing applies to sending requests through for different people, etc.

A big way word was passed in my unit was through the instructors. They would just take a short amount of time for announcements before they started their lesson for the day. It definitely wasn't my favorite way to pass word, I wish they could let the platoon leaders get word down the chain, but this way worked because it meant less people to rely on to make sure every cadet got the same news.

We use Google Documents to create a daily Platoon Commander's Briefing (slideshow) and have our Platoon Commanders give that briefing in front of their Platoon (class periods, in our case) during the first five - ten minutes of class. That briefing has 10 - 15 slides that cover such things as our sign-up lists (community and unit service), the status of our weekly Platoon competition, a uniform day reminder, trip announcements/reminders, etc...
Doing it this way (as a presentation in Google Documents) has many advantages. First, it ensures that every Platoon gets exactly the same information each day. Secondly, it puts the Platoon Commander up front, and requires them to improve their speaking abilities. That has the added affect of having the Platoon see the Platoon Commander in a leadership role. Also, as things change during the day it is easy to update the briefing between classes (the SNSI and NSI have editing ability for the briefing, and so can make changes to the brief on the fly during the day. We update the briefing every morning (only takes a minute) and every afternoon at the end of school, for the next day. We publish a link to the briefing on our Unit web portal so that Cadets and Parents can view the briefing when away from school.
We started this last school year and it has been well-received by everyone. As school hasn't started for us yet, we only have a small briefing up right now to cover the Summer. You can take a look at it here:
